Real Resurfacing

There is a category of professional skin treatment that has been practiced in Korean dermatology clinics and skin care rooms for decades. It produces resurfacing results through a completely different mechanism than chemical peels or laser. No acids. No pH manipulation. No injections. Instead, micro-fine spicules derived from marine sponge are worked into the skin where they create a controlled physical response that pushes old cells, pigmentation, and congestion outward from the inside as fresh new skin forms beneath.

Korean dermatologists call this inside-out renewal. It is the opposite of a chemical peel, which strips from the surface down. Here, the skin does the work itself. The spicules trigger the response and the result follows over the days after treatment.

The Korean Green Sea Resurfacing Protocol is Skin Accord's clinical spicule service. It uses 800,000 ppm marine spicule concentration at professional clinical strength, alongside a precision activator formula containing growth factors, peptides, hyaluronic acid, and beta glucan. It is designed for clients who want meaningful change in hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, uneven texture, and dullness, and who want results that build over a series of treatments rather than a single appointment.

Why This Is a Two Session Protocol For New Clients

This treatment is performed as a two session protocol to ensure both safety and precision. It is not a standard spicule service and is not applied at full strength without preparation.

Spicule treatments at higher concentrations require a controlled introduction to the skin. The first session allows us to assess your skin’s response and determine how it should be advanced. This step helps prevent unnecessary irritation or an overly aggressive reaction.

This is not a formality. It is a safeguard built into the treatment to ensure your skin is supported at every stage while still delivering results.

Session 1: Preparation Facial (60 min) Your skin is introduced to spicule technology at a lighter concentration. This session serves two purposes: it begins the cellular renewal cycle and allows an accurate assessment of exactly how your skin responds to spicule stimulation before the full clinical concentration is applied. The depth of Session 2 is calibrated based on what happens here. This is full facial treatment with includes a deep cleansing, gentle enzyme, and barrier treatment with prep spicule treatment.

Session 2: Full Protocol (75 min) Performed two weeks after Session 1. The full Green Sea Peel is applied at the depth determined by your preparation response. This is the treatment that produces the resurfacing, pigmentation correction, and collagen stimulation the protocol is known for.

The two session structure guarantees your result is calibrated to your skin rather than a generic application. It also ensures that what happens in the days following treatment is something you've already experienced once and know how to manage.

The new client package is $350 and includes everything needed to complete the full protocol safely and effectively.

  • Session 1 — 60 minute full facial with spicule preparation treatment
  • Session 2 — 75 minute full Green Sea Peel
  • Post treatment take home products to support skin recovery at home
  • Post-treatment care card with your full recovery timeline

No additional products to purchase. No separate prep kit required. Everything is included.

What is in Green Sea Peel

The spicule source

At the center of this treatment is Hydrolyzed Sea Sponge, a marine derived ingredient that has been the foundation of Korean professional spicule peeling for decades. The sponge is processed into micro needle shaped particles that penetrate the skin's surface and upper dermis on contact. Once inside, the skin registers them as a foreign body and accelerates its own renewal response. Old cells are pushed upward and outward. The skin underneath is newer, clearer, and more even.

Durvillea Antarctica Extract is a large brown seaweed from the Southern Ocean that completes the powder formula alongside Algae Extract, contributing minerals, antioxidants, and cellular conditioning to the active treatment medium.

The activator

The powder is mixed fresh with an activator formulated with a full peptide stack including Copper Tripeptide-1 for collagen support, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, and Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, alongside Beta-Glucan, Sodium Hyaluronate, Squalane, and Allantoin. The activator is not a neutral carrier. It is delivering active ingredients into the microchannels the spicule creates, which is one reason the results of this treatment go beyond surface exfoliation.

What Korean Clinics Use This Treatment For

Korean dermatology clinics and professional skin care rooms consistently position clinical strength spicule peeling for:

Hyperpigmentation and post-inflammatory pigmentation. The inside-out mechanism draws pigmented cells upward and out of the skin as part of the renewal process. Korean clinical sources describe this as one of the treatment's primary strengths, noting that post-acne pigmentation, melasma, and sun damage respond particularly well over a series.

Acne scarring and textural irregularity. The controlled micro-injury response stimulates the skin's structural renewal process, supporting visible improvement in surface texture and the appearance of shallow acne scarring over multiple sessions.

Active congestion and enlarged pores. Korean esthetic rooms use this category of treatment specifically for congested, oily, and acne prone skin, noting consistent improvement in pore appearance and sebum regulation with regular sessions.

Dullness and overall skin clarity. The cellular turnover acceleration that drives this treatment produces a clarity and evenness that develops progressively over the days following each session.

Safe for all skin tones. Because this treatment works physically rather than chemically, there is no pH-based protein denaturation involved. Korean dermatologists note this makes it appropriate for all Fitzpatrick skin types without the hyperpigmentation risk associated with acid-based peels on darker skin tones.

What to Expect

Before your appointment

Discontinue all exfoliating acids, retinol, and active topicals at least seven days prior to treatment. The skin should be in a stable, non-sensitized state for optimal response. You will receive detailed pre-treatment guidance to follow.

During treatment

A warming, tingling, or prickling sensation is expected during application. This indicates the spicules are engaging with the skin. The treatment is applied in a controlled manner and left in place before removal. This treatment has a high PPM of spicules so there may be mild sensations during application.

Days 1 to 2

Redness and warmth are normal. Do not wash the face for the first 24 hours. Avoid heat, exercise, saunas, and steam for 72 hours. Keep the skin supported and avoid unnecessary stimulation.

Days 3 to 5

Peeling typically begins during this phase. This is part of the skin’s natural renewal process. Do not pick or manually remove peeling skin. Avoid all exfoliating products. Keep the skin moisturized and use SPF consistently.

Days 5 to 7

Peeling subsides and visible results begin to emerge. Skin appears more even, refined, and smooth. Continue to avoid introducing new active products until the skin has fully stabilized.

Downtime & Social Recovery

Most clients experience visible redness for 1–2 days followed by peeling between days 3–5. Social downtime is typically 2–4 days depending on skin response. This treatment is best scheduled when you can allow the skin to renew without interruption.

Best Time to Book This Treatment

Plan this treatment at least 21 days before any important events, travel, or photos. This allows the skin to complete the renewal cycle and fully settle before you need it to look its best.

Contraindications

This treatment is not appropriate for clients with : shellfish or iodine allergies, active dermatitis, severe rosacea, sunburned skin, compromised barrier at the time of appointment

While this spicule is generally safe for pregnant clients. We do require a doctor's clearance before treatment.

What Happens If I Am Not a Candidate

Every new client booking begins with a thorough skin assessment before any treatment is performed. In some cases, the skin may not be in the right condition to proceed with the Green Sea Peel at that appointment. This can happen if the barrier is compromised, if there is active inflammation or sensitivity, or if the skin needs additional preparation before clinical strength spicule treatment is appropriate.

If this happens, your appointment will be converted to a 60 minute barrier reset facial at no additional charge. Your deposit will be applied to that service. A plan will be put in place to prepare your skin for the Green Sea Peel at a future visit.

This assessment step is part of how this protocol is designed to work. It exists to protect your skin and ensure the treatment produces the result it is capable of, not simply to complete a procedure.

How a Series Works

Includes full facial, skin assessment, Session 1 preparation treatment, Session 2 full Green Sea Peel at calibrated depth, a professional recovery serum applied at the close of both sessions to support barrier renewal, a post-treatment care card with your full recovery timeline, and a take-home recovery cream to support the skin in the days following treatment.

A $90 deposit is collected at booking and applied toward your package total. The remaining balance ($260) is collected at Session 1. No payment is due at Session 2.

Frequently asked questions

A regular facial works on the surface. A chemical peel uses acid to dissolve and lift the outer layer of skin. The Korean Green Sea Resurfacing Protocol works from the inside out using marine spicules that physically penetrate the skin and trigger the body's own cellular renewal response. There is no acid, no chemical reaction, and no surface stripping involved. The result develops over several days as the skin pushes old cells outward and produces newer, clearer skin beneath. It is a fundamentally different mechanism than either a traditional facial or a chemical peel.

No. New clients begin with a two session protocol before moving into maintenance treatments.

This is not a typical spicule treatment where the same approach is used on every client. The first session is designed to observe how your skin responds and to calibrate the treatment specifically for you.

Working with higher concentration spicule technology requires precision. Starting with full strength application without that baseline can lead to an unpredictable response or skin damage, which is why the protocol is required.

Once you have completed the initial sessions, you are welcome to book single maintenance treatments at $175 per session to maintain your results.

Your first session begins with a thorough skin assessment to confirm the Green Sea Peel is appropriate for your skin at that time. If your skin is ready, we proceed with the preparation treatment, which introduces spicule stimulation at a lower intensity and establishes the baseline for your full protocol. If additional preparation is needed before we proceed, your appointment will be converted to a 60 minute barrier reset facial and your deposit will be applied to that service. A plan will be put in place to prepare your skin for the Green Sea Peel at a future visit.
