Introducing
Korean Blue Spicule Peel
There is a category of professional skin treatment that has become a cornerstone of Korean dermatology for clients dealing with active acne, congestion, post acne scarring, and dull skin that refuses to respond to topical products. It works through a completely different mechanism than chemical peels or laser. No acids. No pH manipulation. No needles. Instead, micro-fine spicules derived from marine sponge are pressed into the skin where they create a controlled physical response that drives cellular renewal, clears congestion, and delivers a concentrated repair payload through the micro channels the spicule creates.
The Korean Blue Glass Skin Peel is Skin Accord's spicule treatment for clarity, congestion, and acne. It uses 99% high purity uniform marine spicules at 500,000 ppm alongside a clinical grade activator packed with ferments, glutathione, 22 amino acids, 5 types of hyaluronic acid, and an 11 vitamin complex. The peel's signature blue color comes from phycocyanin, a natural antioxidant derived from blue spirulina. It is not a dye. It reflects the presence of potent antioxidant actives working to calm and brighten the skin throughout the renewal process.
This is one of the only places in the New Lenox and south suburbs area offering this specific treatment.
Why This Is a Two Session Protocol
At 500,000 ppm this is a high concentration professional spicule treatment. It requires a preparation session before the full protocol is performed. This is not a formality. It is how responsible clinical spicule treatment is done.
Session 1: Preparation (60 min) Your skin is introduced to spicule technology at a controlled intensity. This session serves two purposes: it begins the cellular renewal cycle and allows an accurate assessment of exactly how your skin responds to spicule stimulation before the full clinical protocol is applied. The approach for Session 2 is calibrated based on what happens here.
Session 2: Full Protocol (50 min) Performed two weeks after Session 1. The full Blue Glass Skin Peel is applied using the official press and absorb technique — a method used in Korean professional settings that embeds spicules vertically into the skin without lateral movement. This is what makes the treatment safe over active acne and congested skin. No friction, no bacterial spread, no uncontrolled depth.
The two session structure guarantees your result is calibrated to your skin rather than a generic application. It also ensures that what happens in the days following treatment is something you have already experienced once and know how to manage.

What Is in This Treatment
The spicule source
At the center of this treatment is Hydrolyzed Sponge at 50% concentration with 99% purity and uniform sizing. Spicule purity and size uniformity are the two most clinically significant variables in any spicule treatment. Impure spicules with irregular sizing cause uncontrolled inflammation and unpredictable penetration depth. The 99% purity and uniform structure of this formula mean penetration is even, controlled, and far less irritating than common spicule products.
The calamine difference
Built directly into the peel powder is calamine, a zinc based mineral with documented antibacterial and sebum regulating properties. Standard spicule peels do not contain calamine. Building it into the peel medium means antibacterial action is happening simultaneously with spicule penetration — not added in a separate recovery step after the damage is done. This is what makes the Blue Glass Skin Peel appropriate for active acne and congested skin in a way most spicule treatments are not.
The activator
The powder is mixed fresh with an activator formulated with Lactobacillus Ferment Lysate, Beta Glucan, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Allantoin, Caffeine, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Glutathione, Adenosine, 22 amino acids, and 5 types of hyaluronic acid. The activator is not a neutral carrier. Every ingredient in it supports inflamed, acne prone, and congested skin. Caffeine for anti-inflammatory circulation support. Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate for documented antibacterial activity against acne causing bacteria. Glutathione for antioxidant protection and post inflammatory pigmentation. Beta Glucan and Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate for direct calming of the inflammatory response while spicules are still active in the skin.
The application technique
Unlike friction based spicule treatments, the Blue Glass Skin Peel is applied using a press and absorb method. The product is pressed straight down zone by zone with no rubbing, no circular massage, and no lateral movement across the skin. This is the official Korean clinical technique. It means no bacterial spread over active breakouts, no uncontrolled depth from aggressive friction, and a more consistent result across the full face.
The finish
Every session closes with a soothing gel and calming mask applied directly over the peel while it is still on the skin. The peel is left on — the gel and mask are the calming phase happening simultaneously with the spicule activity. Your package includes ACFIT Emergency Cream for at home barrier support during the healing window.
What This Treatment Is Used For
Korean dermatology clinics and professional skin care rooms use clinical strength spicule peeling with calamine for:
Active acne and congested skin. The calamine in the peel powder and the press and absorb technique together make this one of the only professional spicule treatments appropriate for active breakouts. The antibacterial action targets acne causing bacteria directly while the spicules work. Before and after documentation from Korean clinical settings shows visibly inflamed, pustular acne responding significantly over a series.
Post acne scarring and post inflammatory pigmentation. The inside-out cellular renewal mechanism draws pigmented cells upward and out of the skin as part of the renewal process. Glutathione and Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate in the activator support antioxidant protection and brightening simultaneously.
Enlarged pores and rough or uneven texture. Spicule penetration stimulates physiological cell activity and improves microcirculation, producing progressive refinement in pore size and surface texture over a series of treatments.
Dull, fatigued skin that does not respond to topical products. The treatment accelerates the skin's natural 28 day turnover cycle to as fast as 3 days. Skin that has become stagnant responds quickly to the physical renewal stimulus the spicule creates.
Oily or congested skin needing a deep reset. The calamine, ferment complex, and sebum targeting ingredients in the formula address congestion at the follicular level rather than just at the surface.
Safe for all skin tones. Because this treatment works physically rather than chemically, there is no pH-based protein denaturation involved. It is appropriate for all Fitzpatrick skin types without the hyperpigmentation risk associated with acid-based peels on deeper skin tones.
What to Expect
Before your appointment
Stop all exfoliating acids, retinol, and active topicals seven days before your session. No waxing, threading, or dermaplaning within seven days prior. No other professional treatments within two weeks prior. Arrive with clean skin and disclose any recent procedures, medications, or skin changes at booking.
During treatment
A warming sensation and tingling during application is expected and normal. This is the spicule beginning to penetrate the skin surface. The gel and mask applied over the peel during treatment will calm the sensation significantly — the calming phase is built into the protocol, not added after.
Days 1 to 2
Skin may look slightly flushed and feel warm after treatment. Some clients notice pores appear larger or more visible immediately after. This is normal and temporary — mild swelling around the pore walls is part of the inflammatory response that drives the renewal process. It resolves on its own. Avoid washing the face for the first 12 hours after treatment. Avoid heat, heavy exercise, and sauna for 2 days.
Days 2 to 4
Peeling begins. Skin may look congested as it purges and sheds. This is the renewal cycle working exactly as it should. Do not pick or pull at peeling skin — let it shed naturally to avoid post inflammatory pigmentation. Avoid all exfoliants for one week.
Days 5 to 7
Peeling completes and skin begins to clear. Texture starts to refine and pores begin to look tighter as inflammation fully resolves.
Days 10 to 14
Full result from that session is visible. Skin looks cleaner, clearer, and more refined. Results compound with each session — the most significant improvement in acne scarring, pigmentation, and pore size is typically visible after a full series of 4 sessions.
Contraindications
Not appropriate for clients currently on Accutane or who have completed a course within the past 12 months. Clients with atopic dermatitis or those currently under active dermatological treatment should consult their provider before booking. Pregnant women should consult a provider before booking.
What Happens If I Am Not a Candidate
Every new client booking begins with a thorough skin assessment before any treatment is performed. In some cases the skin may not be in the right condition to proceed with the Blue Glass Skin Peel at that appointment. This can happen if the barrier is significantly compromised, if there is active infection rather than typical inflammatory acne, or if the skin needs additional preparation before clinical strength spicule treatment is appropriate.
If this happens, your appointment will be converted to a 60 minute barrier reset facial at no additional charge. Your deposit will be applied to that service. A plan will be put in place to prepare your skin for the Blue Glass Skin Peel at a future visit.
This assessment step is part of how this protocol is designed to work. It exists to protect your skin and ensure the treatment produces the result it is capable of.
How a Series Works
New client package: $270 Two sessions scheduled two weeks apart. Includes skin assessment, Session 1 preparation treatment, Session 2 full Blue Glass Skin Peel, lacto care ampoule and recovery mask at both sessions, post treatment care card, and ACFIT Emergency Cream for home use during the recovery window.
A $54 deposit is collected at booking and applied toward your package total. The remaining balance ($216) is collected at Session 1 before treatment begins. No payment is due at Session 2.
Returning client single session: $135 Available to clients who have completed the new client package. Recommended every three to four weeks. A series of 4 sessions delivers the most significant and lasting results — especially for acne scarring and persistent congestion.
A $27 deposit is collected at booking and applied to your session total.
Usage Caution
This is a professional grade spicule treatment. Please review the following before your appointment.
Clients with thin or sensitive skin should inform us at booking — a patch test on the inner arm may be recommended before your full session.
The peel is not applied around the eyes, lips, or philtrum. These areas are too sensitive for spicule contact.
Skin becomes more sensitive to UV exposure following treatment. Apply SPF daily without exception for at least one week after each session.
If you experience unusual irritation, persistent redness, or discomfort following treatment, stop all actives and contact us before your next session.
Pregnant women, those with atopic dermatitis, or those currently under dermatological treatment should consult with their provider before booking.
If you are currently on Accutane or have completed a course within the past 12 months, please reach out before booking.
