What does the PLLA do in a sunscreen? PLLA in HOP+ formulas is delivered topically and works cumulatively with consistent daily use. Carrying PLLA through the sunscreen step keeps it in contact with the skin during the longest stretch of the day, which extends daily exposure to the same active you are using in the rest of the HOP+ routine.

I have a bee and honey allergy. Can I use this? This formula contains Royal Jelly Powder. If you have a known bee, honey, or pollen allergy it is not recommended to use this sunscreen formula. For a fully mineral SPF alternative, the Dermastart Clear Choice Sport Shield SPF 45 is the recommended option. It is formulated with 12% Zinc Oxide, no royal jelly, and no honey extracts.

Will this leave a white cast on darker skin tones?

On lighter to medium skin tones, the formula blends to a clear satin finish when applied in small sections on hydrated skin. On deeper skin tones, the 20% mineral formulation will cast visibly. 

For darker skin, the Dermastart Clear Choice Sport Shield SPF 45 is the recommended alternative. It is formulated with 12% Zinc Oxide, blends invisibly into deeper skin tones with no cast, and is water resistant for up to 80 minutes. 

Does this protect against blue light from screens?

Yes. In addition to UVA and UVB coverage, the formula provides protection against high energy visible (HEV) blue light from screens, LED and fluorescent lighting, and other indoor light sources. HEV light contributes to oxidative stress on the skin and can play a role in the appearance of pigment changes over time, particularly on the face. The mineral filter load works alongside the antioxidants in the formula (Niacinamide, Rosa Roxburghii, Panthenol, Royal Jelly Powder) to address both UV and HEV exposure in a single morning step.

Why does the tube need to be shaken before every use? The formula combines a heavy mineral filter load with a Bulgarian rose water base and an oil phase. Some natural separation between these layers is expected and is a sign of a clean, minimally stabilized formula. Always shake or knead the closed tube before each use to remix. If you squeeze before shaking, you may lose the clear liquid (the rose water and active phase) before the cream is reincorporated.

Is this safe for sensitive skin? Yes. The formula is free of synthetic fragrance and uses physical UV filters, which sit on the skin's surface rather than absorbing in. Sensitive skin types and those in post procedure recovery often tolerate mineral formulas better than chemical filters.

Can I use this on my body? Yes. The formula is designed for face and body. For larger body areas, a slightly larger dispense is appropriate.

Zinc Oxide (9%) A physical UV filter that sits on the skin's surface to reflect and scatter the full UVA1, UVA2, and UVB range. Particularly relevant for visible pigment concerns, post procedure recovery, and sensitive skin. Nine percent is a clinically meaningful concentration.

Titanium Dioxide (11%) A physical UV filter that adds UVB and UVA2 coverage and reinforces photostability. Together with Zinc Oxide, the formula carries a 20% total mineral filter load.

Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) The signature HOP+ active. PLLA is a biocompatible polymer used in injectable collagen stimulating treatments and dissolvable surgical sutures. In topical form, PLLA contributes to a smoother, firmer appearance with consistent daily use. Carrying it through the sunscreen step extends daily PLLA contact time across the morning routine.

Four Growth Factor Complex (sh-Polypeptide-22, sh-Oligopeptide-1, sh-Oligopeptide-2, sh-Polypeptide-15) The full 4GF complex used throughout the HOP+ system. This is a bio identical signaling peptide blend that supports the appearance of firmness, even tone, and refined texture. Carrying the 4GF into the SPF step is a formulation density choice that sets this sunscreen apart from standard mineral SPFs.

Royal Jelly Powder A nutrient rich extract from honeybee secretions, traditionally used for its skin softening and conditioning properties. Contributes to a smooth, comfortable finish.

Rosa Damascena Flower Water (Bulgarian Rose Water) The water phase of this formula. A premium botanical hydrosol used in place of standard purified water. Provides natural skin soothing and antioxidant character at the base of the formula.

Niacinamide A multi function active that supports the appearance of even tone, refined pore appearance, and a balanced skin surface. Pairs naturally with daytime use.

Rosa Roxburghii Fruit Extract A potent antioxidant fruit extract (also known as Chestnut Rose) rich in vitamin C, which supports the look of brightness and helps defend against daily environmental stressors under SPF.

Panthenol Pro vitamin B5. Supports a comfortable, hydrated skin feel through the day under sunscreen.

Before using the HOP+ All Mineral Multi Protection Face & Body Sunscreen for the first time, apply a small amount to clean skin on the inner forearm and wait 24 hours. If you do not notice redness, itching, or discomfort, the product can be used as directed on the face. If irritation occurs at any time, discontinue use and consult a skincare professional or medical provider.

A patch test is particularly important for this product if you have any history of allergy to bee products, honey, or pollen.
