Korugi Sculpting Facial Massage at Skin Accord

Most facials work on the surface. This one works on the structure beneath it.

The Korugi method takes its name from the Korean word for bone manipulation and was developed into a structured facial treatment in Japan, where manual facial work has been refined for decades as a cornerstone of aesthetic practice. The Korugi Sculpting Facial Massage at Skin Accord builds on that foundation, layering fascial release, deep muscle work, and lymphatic drainage into a full structural sequence that addresses the face as part of a connected body system.

Before any work reaches the face, the connective tissue and muscles pulling against the result are released from below. By the time Korugi knuckle to bone sculpting begins, the tissue is open, draining, and free to respond.

This is the full structural system that Eastern European aesthetic medicine has practiced for decades, now available in New Lenox and serving clients from Homewood, Olympia Fields, Matteson, Orland Park, Frankfort, Mokena, Joliet, Tinley Park, and throughout Will County.

What does Korugi do for the face?

When facial muscles are chronically tense and overworked, they do not simply hold an expression; they actively reshape the face over time. A muscle under sustained tension shortens and thickens, continuously pulling the tissue attached to it in the direction of that tension, not just during expression. Because facial muscles attach directly into the skin rather than bone to bone like body muscles, that chronic pull transfers immediately to the surface.

The result is the gradual displacement of soft tissue downward and inward, deepening folds, lowering the corners of the mouth, compressing the jawline, and collapsing the facial oval. Overworked muscles also accumulate fascial adhesions within the surrounding connective tissue, locking the skin into a descended position even when the muscles are at rest. Over time, the lifting muscles that should counterbalance this tension weaken because they are unable to complete their full range of motion against the resistance of adhered fascia.

The face is not simply aging; it is being held in place by a system of chronic tension and restriction that has never been addressed.

What's Included

Supraclavicular Lymphatic Activation Before draining fluid from the face, we open the exit point first. A pumping technique at the collarbone clears the pathway so everything we move from the face above has somewhere to go.

Facial and Neck Lymphatic Drainage An incredibly light touch along the face and neck moves fluid through the lymphatic system, reducing puffiness and congestion. The gentleness is intentional. Most clients drift into deep relaxation during this step before any structural work begins.

Platysma Release and Rolling A broad flat muscle runs from your chest all the way into your jaw and lower face. When it holds chronic tension it actively pulls the jaw and chin downward. We roll and lift this muscle to release that downward pull and restore mobility to the lower face.

SCM Lift and Roll The large muscle running diagonally down the side of your neck influences your jaw angle, your cheeks, and even your lymphatic drainage. Releasing it creates an immediate decompression that travels all the way up into the face.

Fascial Skin Rolling The skin and the tissue beneath it should move independently. Over time they can fuse together, locking the skin in a descended position no product can lift. Rolling separates those layers and frees the skin to return to where it naturally belongs.

Korugi Knuckle to Bone Sculpting The signature technique of the Korugi method. Precise knuckle pressure applied directly to the bony structure of the jaw, cheekbones, and forehead to reposition the face at its foundation and restore definition that has softened over time.

FAQ

How is this different from a regular facial massage? Most facial massage is applied at the surface and focused on product absorption or relaxation. The Korugi Sculpting Facial Massage follows a specific anatomical sequence beginning with the body and working through the neck muscles and fascial layers before addressing the face. The platysma and SCM release, fascial rolling, and Korugi bone sculpting work at a structural level that standard facial massage does not reach.

Will I see results after one session? Most clients notice immediate changes in jawline definition, lift, and puffiness reduction after a single session. Structural results build across a series of 4 sessions spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart, with each session building on the tissue changes from the last.

Is there any downtime? No. Some clients experience mild redness in areas of significant fascial release, which resolves within a few hours. There are no restrictions on activity after your appointment.

How often should I book after the initial series? Monthly  works well for maintenance after completing a series of 4. The tissue holds results progressively longer with consistent sessions.

Who is not a candidate? This service is not recommended during active skin infections, open lesions, recent facial surgery, or in the presence of certain conditions affecting the lymphatic system. Please reach out before booking if you have any medical concerns and we will advise.

Can I combine this with other services? Elements of the Korugi Sculpting Facial Massage can be incorporated into an extended anti-aging facial for clients who want structural work alongside other treatment steps. Contact us to discuss what makes sense for your goals.
